Taking care of wavy hair

Haaa wavy hair. It’s not really straight, but it’s not curly either!

Products for Type B or C textured hair can quickly become too heavy and products for straight hair, not enough to enhance your hair. In short, wavy hair can quickly become a source of frustration.

We’ve selected 5 steps to help you reclaim your curls (or waves, if you prefer to call them that!).

Choosing the right shampoo

The scalp of wavy heads tends to get greasy quickly. A shampoo that’s too rich will quickly weigh down your waves and, of course, cause a greasy effect.

To keep your hair light and avoid falling into the trap of daily shampooing, we recommend you opt for moisturising purifying shampoos or even powder-based no poo.

These will take care of your scalp, limit the build-up of impurities and keep your waves light.

Like all textured hair, wavy hair also tends to be dry by nature. That’s why conditioner is essential to give your hair the moisture it needs after conditioning.

Here too, you’ll need to be careful choose your conditioner carefully, because even if conditioners aren’t as rich as masks, they can still become so if you don’t select the right one.

At Sanganni, we go even further and recommend a leave-in with light textures and components such as hair milk or gel.

We advise you to be patient: start with small quantities and gradually increase them until you find the right dosage for you.

Remember: only apply to the lengths.

Styling products

One of the secrets to shaping your curls and keeping their shape is styling products. The Sanganni team recommends curly hair gels.

You can be quite generous with the dose and apply your jelly to wet hair from the roots (it doesn’t even need to be wrung out) and then scrunch.

The right movements

One of the quickest and easiest moves for wavy hair is scrunching. This step comes along with the application of the hair gel.

Once you’ve applied your styling product and started scrunching, you can arm yourself with your best towel (microfibre, bamboo fibre) and continue scrunching your hair (while wringing it out at the same time). You can then lift and wrap your hair in your towel on top of your head.

And to finish the whole routine on a high note, you can use your diffuser to add structure to your curls and waves. Unlike a traditional hairdryer, a diffuser is ideal for textured hair.

If you use a diffuser correctly, you’ll be able to dry your hair without losing any definition, volume or bounce. If you want to find out more, don’t hesitate to watch our video here
